Highlighting district & ESD honors

NEWESD 101 Open Doors Program
One-hundred-sixty-two students earned their High School Equivalency last year through Open Doors. Operating out of the Next Generation Zone, the program re-engages students who have dropped out or will likely drop out of school. Students work toward their high school diploma (through the Gateway to College Program) or their high school equivalency.

Davenport School District
The district has been honored with a national Blue Ribbon Schools award for exemplary academic performance. The award is one of only four presented in Washington state in 2019.

NEWESD 101 Employees Honored
Leon Covington, a NEWESD 101 threat assessment coordinator, has received a national Thriving School award from Kaiser Permanente for his work promoting healthy school environments.

The American Society of Safety Professionals has named Eric Dickson 2019 regional Safety Professional of the Year. Eric is an industrial hygienist at NEWESD 101.
