Lt. Col. Anne McClain, a Spokane native aboard the International Space Station, conducted a live forum from space May 15 with more than 1,000 area students. NEWESD 101's Steve Schreiner served as master of ceremonies for the event at Gonzaga Prep, McClain's alma mater.

The program included area elementary students, joined by the G-Prep student body, who engaged in a nearly 20-minute question-and-answer session with McClain, whose image was projected on two giant screens. Students asked a variety of questions ranging from weightlessness to debris in space. Those in attendance included McClain's mother, Charlotte Lamp, pictured below with Schreiner.
